My seminar project carries intuitive impulses and continues with “systematic form hunting impacted by coincidences”.
I wanted to get a little freedom into my seminar work, it was all about simple methods, and the feeling of pure joy that comes from creating without the need to infuse it with deep meaning. I was creating "non-referential design" for "non-referencial world".
The base of my visual experimentation is a grid with numbers. And the number 8 was my initial limitation. Each shape had a number /1-8/ assigned to them. Their positions on the grid are generated with an online number generator which uses different algorithms. After that I used the Blend Tool /Adobe Illustrator/ on my objects, it created a flow of shapes in which they gradually transformed from one into the other.
Although I set the initial parameters, I had no impact on how the final visuals were going to look. The nature of this work made me rather an observer than designer or artist.
After this stage was finished I started giving purposes to the outputs. I started using them as typography, on textile, as small prints, etc. This method is an inexhaustible resource of visuals, which I can apply wherever I want.
I also created an online archive where I stored all my visuals.
